Men’s Mental Health

Experiencing isolation or lacking healthy relationships. Difficulty connecting with others or your own emotions. Feeling you wear a mask or others don’t truly know you. Wanting to hide some emotions and only show others. Struggling with pornography, violence, or substance addictions. Depression or suicidal thoughts.

Trauma

Feeling overwhelmed by and unable to cope with painful, scary, or confusing experiences. Irritability, sleep disturbances, or difficulty concentrating. Flashbacks or nightmares of the experience. Intrusive or recurrent thoughts of the experience. Trust issues, constantly having your guard up, or being on the lookout for threats or danger. Depression or anxiety symptoms. Feeling your life has been forever altered by something very difficult and disturbing to you.

Addiction

Unable to quit despite issues with your responsibilities, relationships, or emotional/physical health. Addictive behavior causing dangerous situations, guilt, or shame. Cravings or withdrawal symptoms. Using more or for longer than originally intended. Unsuccessful efforts to cut down or stop the addiction.

Emotional Health

Having a hard time managing your emotions. Inability to know or respond to your values, feelings, and desires. Lack of purpose, direction, or drive in life. Difficulty connecting with others in deep relationships or feeling numb. Issues with boundaries, conflict management, or healthy communication. Feeling “off” and being uncertain about exactly what is wrong.

Ministry Transitions

Experiencing fear or confusion about a current or past transition from a role in Christian ministry. Feeling out of place, lonely, or lost. Navigating issues of grief and loss. Struggling with burnout or culture shock. Confusion about how to follow God in different circumstances. Feeling isolated, unknown, or misunderstood. Having existential, identity, or faith questions and/or crises.

Depression

Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or hopelessness. Unexplained irritability or low self-esteem. Decreased pleasure or interest in activities you used to enjoy. Isolation or withdrawal from important relationships. Appetite, weight, or sleep changes. Lack of energy or motivation. Thoughts of ending your life or wishing you were not around.

Anxiety

Worrying or nervousness about most things or all of life in general. Persistent fear disproportionate to a situation. Ruminating on worrisome, negative, or obsessive thoughts. Physical symptoms including rapid heart rate, lightheadedness, sweating, muscle or stomach tension, or rapid and shallow breathing. Feeling restless or on edge. Experiencing panic attacks.
